We (sort of) know what to do

A study published in Science looked at how many trees our planet could sustain and what the effects might be for climate change if we were to restore our lost forests. Apparently if we plant forests equivalent to the size of the continental U.S., the trees will absorb enough carbon dioxide to cut the atmospheric carbon by 25%.

We’ve know for a long time that planting trees can help keep our planet the way we like it. Most of the articles I read about this study stated that while we know what to do, getting there is more complicated.

That is true for so many of the problems we face. In most cases, we have the solutions in hand, but there is no money to implement them, or the political will isn’t there because the change will affect too many people and people don’t want change.

Fear stops progress. It seems like the real challenge isn’t so much finding the technical solutions as it is figuring out how to implement them without frightening people.
