There are at least 7 billion ways to make a difference if you’re doing it one person at a time.
That’s why we group people by need. It’s more efficient. A vaccine can potentially make a difference to millions of people succeptible to a disease.
But sometimes you have to treat people’s needs one at a time. Surgeries to repair deformities can’t be packaged for a mass market, no matter how many people need it. It has to be customized for each person.
If there is a way to generalize what you’re doing in a way that maximizes your impact without losing its effectiveness, then do that. Strive to make things better for the largest number of people you can.
But don’t be afraid to be personalized with your approach. Sometimes helping people one on one is the only way to do it right.
