We’re big fans of silver bullets.
It’s comforting to think we might find solutions that somehow cut through all the complexity and solve long-standing, intractable problems, but silver bullets (in the metaphorical sense) don’t actually exist.
The only time you hear about them is when someone reminds us that “there is no silver bullet” for solving whatever problem is being looked at. You never hear someone say, “Here it is! I found the silver bullet for solving X.”
That doesn’t stop politicians and many others from claiming they can instantly solve all your problems. And so many of us buy into it.
Like I said, we’re big fans of silver bullets.
