Our memories are the stories we tell about our experiences.
We can change the stories we tell ourselves and others about our past. Just like I can try to look at today’s experiences with a more open mind, I can look back at old experiences and admit to myself that I might have been wrong.
Thinking back on it, I can admit that I don’t really know why that person acted the way they did, and I can give them the benefit of the doubt retroactively.
In that way, we can change the past.
