…but here’s what I think I know.

That’s a useful way to begin to answer a question because it immediately opens you up to new information and new ideas. Even if you just say it to yourself, it’s a reminder that as much as you might think you know, the truth is always more complicated.

If you actually say that to someone you’re having a conversation with, it’s permission for them to disagree with you and an invitation for them to educate you on your misconceptions.

At least that’s what I think I know.
